THE NAUTICAM NA-R7 UNDERWATER HOUSING FOR THE CANON EOS R7 CAMERA

The NA-R7 underwater housing follows suit with Nauticam's drive for innovation. Like the full frame Canon EOS R5, R5 C and R3, the NA-R7 present shooters with the ability to use both the available legacy EF lenses via an adapter in addition to their native RF optics. To support both the legacy and native lenses, Nauticam has designed a N100 to N120 adapter which integrates into the N120 Canon EF port system. Canon's EF to RF mount adapters can be affixed to the camera before insertion into the housing. When using the EOS R7 inside the housing with the adapter and a supported EF lens, the port and extension ring arrangement will be identical to the same setup on a Nauticam Canon N120 DSLR. As the RF-S lens lineup emerges, dedicated port and extension ring combinations will be listed on the new N100 RF-S Port Chart.

Mission Control

Nauticam engineers are obsessed with getting the underwater image maker unfettered access to all the necessary controls, with as many within easy reach of the ergonomic rubberized handles. This Mission Control philosophy extends to the NA-R7 where a dual thumb lever is placed by the right front side accessing the M-Fn and Record buttons. On the rear right side is a thumb lever accessing AF-ON. Near the left handle is a thumb lever for "Playback."

Large knurled and rubberized control dials access the camera's "main" and "sub" command dials. The two-stage trigger allows for smooth focus and firing activation. Additional buttons for "Menu", "Focus Point Selection" and others are also easily reached from the handles.

Price

Priced at $3,377, the Nauticam housing for the Canon EOS R7 can be ordered now from retailers such as Backscatter.

Showcase the Memories that Light Up Your Life with Canon’s New IVY 2 Mini Photo Printer

New Canon IVY 2 Mini Photo Printer

MELVILLE, NY, September 29, 2022 – Some say a picture is worth a thousand words, and a small and portable photo printer is a fun, easy – and straight-up cool - way to bring your unique and unforgettable moments to life. To help creators share and save memories with family and friends, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is excited to announce the new version of the IVY Mini Photo Printer – the IVY 2. The IVY 2 is an upgrade from its predecessor; delivering higher quality pictures, a faster charging battery and better connectivity, enabling DIY creators to “Print, Peel, Stick and Go” with even more personal, customized creative expression.

IVY creators quickly and easily print photos of family, friends, pets or any other source of inspiration from their compatible smartphone1 onto sticky photo paper and add them to a scrapbook, a laptop, or virtually anywhere you can think of, all with a compact printer that fits easily in a small purse, or even your pocket. Plus, a new, expanded 100-sheet photo sticker paper pack (purchased separately) frees up everyday IVY users to continually update their self-expression without the continued worry of running out of sheets.

“Our Canon customers continually motivate us to focus on enhancing daily experiences and preserving important memories, whether they are using Canon products for the first time or they have been with us since the beginning,” said Isao “Sammy” Kobayashi, senior vice president and general manager of Canon U.S.A., Inc. “As a Canon leader, the IVY product line is personal for me, as we are frequently finding our product’s user-base is new to the brand, and so I am very excited for our team to bring you our new IVY 2 Mini Photo Printer with enhanced picture quality and improved user experience.”
New Canon IVY 2 Mini Photo Printer
For the kid at home, as well as the “older kid” at school, taking pictures from their compatible smartphone or tablet1, and who enjoys decorating and sharing stickers with friends, this second generation of the IVY Mini Photo Printer is a perfect tool. You can “print, peel, stick, go” – peeling off the back of the printed photo and sticking the picture to personal belongings, your journal, or adding it to a scrapbook with favorite photos. Parents can make great use of the IVY 2 too, printing pictures to add to a photo album, their fridge, and other creative spaces.

The IVY 2 can easily fit in your pocket or bag, making it convenient to carry place to place. The printer is available in two colors – pure white and blush pink. It takes just a few minutes to set up, and the multi-color LED will clearly tell you the printer status. Using a compatible USB cable, the printer can fully charge in as little as 45 minutes2. The IVY 2 easily connects to your compatible smartphone with Bluetooth®, and utilizes ZINK Zero Ink™ Technology from ZINK™, an amazing way to print in full color without the need for ink cartridges. ZINK paper is available in pre-cut circle sticker form (purchased separately), for those whose lives can’t be confined to straight edges.

To set and send print jobs, users download the free Canon Mini Printer App¹, which offers the option to print individual smudge-free 2x3 prints or stickers. From selfies to sunsets, this feature offers the freedom of expression for a wide variety of consumers. The app includes creative filters, such as photo frames and stickers, image collage templates, as well as additional photo-editing tools including added text, fun frames and the option to draw.

Price and Availability

The Canon IVY 2 Mini Photo Printer will be available this October, with a pre-order available now, through select major retailers and Canon USA’s site here. The estimated retail price is $129.99*, which includes the printer and a starter pack of 10 sheets of 2x3 photo paper. The Canon ZINK Photo Paper Pack will also be available for the first time with 100 sheets later this year.

Canon to host "YORU ZEN - Find Your Own Zen" Event

Canon to host "YORU ZEN - Find Your Own Zen" event at Kenninji Temple, a new way to experience cultural treasures made possible with Canon imaging technologies

Canon to host "YORU ZEN - Find Your Own Zen" Event at Kenninji Temple
YORU ZEN key visual

TOKYO, September 15, 2022—Canon Inc. announced today that the company will host the "YORU ZEN - Find Your Own Zen," visual experience event from Saturday, October 15 to Sunday, October 30 at Kyoto's Kenninji Temple1, the head temple of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism.

YORU ZEN is a special visual event led by the Japan Cultural Expo2 (JCE) and hosted by Canon, is one such project that has been adopted for this program. Leveraging the company's advanced imaging technologies, the event features displays that breathe new life into cultural assets through visual displays of natural flora and fauna, and visual expression that conveys Japanese culture and the passion creators have poured into the event.

The lecture hall of Kenninji Temple will feature an audiovisual augmented reality (AR) experience incorporating the Twin Dragon Painting (11.4 m (l) x 15.7 m (w)) depicted on the ceiling (10.8 m). Using proprietary Canon technology, the company has photographed the painting in segments and synthesized them into a single 18.4 megapixel image. When viewing the real-life painting through a smartphone, the dragons, divine guardians of the Buddha come to life, "spreading merciful rains from above." What's more, smartphones can also be used to examine the delicate brushstrokes and other finer details not visible to the naked eye.

Daiou-en (Grand Garden), a Zen garden in the Japanese dry garden style located in the priests' garden of Kenninji Temple, will be the site of a mixed reality (MR) experience. Using Canon's MREAL S1 head-mounted MR system (released in February 2021), 3D CG is superimposed over the dry garden, creating a mystical and immersive visual experience based on the Zen worldview.

A high-resolution facsimile of the "Wind and Thunder Gods" folding screen, a national treasure, will employ projection mapping technology. Two projectors will be used to enact a visually captivating story of the Wind God carrying seeds and the Thunder God bringing rain to create a bountiful harvest of the five sacred grains. The high-resolution facsimile used in the display was created through the Tsuzuri Project3, a joint effort between Canon and the Kyoto Culture Association (NPO), and donated to Kenninji Temple in 2021.

New Canon CR-N700 PTZ Broadcast Camera

Canon Targets High-End Broadcasters With New PTZ Camera

New Canon CR-N700 PTZ Broadcasting Camera

Broadcast Quality Video Capture and Advanced Connectivity Options Help Enable Broadcasters to Achieve Efficient Production

MELVILLE, NY, September 7, 2022 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, announced today the launch of the CR-N700i – a 4K 60P 4:2:2 10-bit PTZ camera with a 1.0-inch Type CMOS Sensor and 12G-SDI connectivity, designed for professional broadcast, studios, and live event productions. Building on Canon’s broadcast heritage, the CR-N700 incorporates the intelligent AF from Canon’s popular professional video cameras, such as the EOS C70 and XF605, for precision focus across the entire pan, tilt and zoom range. With a host of powerful features, this launch expands Canon’s PTZ line-up, offering a PTZ camera for various types of productions and technical requirements. Additionally, Canon is announcing the availability of a firmware update for the Canon CR-N500 and CR-N300 PTZ cameras.

Achieve Broadcast Quality, Easily

To meet the current demands of broadcasters, the CR-N700 features a 1.0-inch Type CMOS sensor and DIGIC DV7 processor to deliver superb 4K UHD 60P 4:2:2 10-bit imagery for truly immersive content. Capable of high-quality transmission, Canon’s newest PTZ camera allows content creators to stream 4K 60P over IP with PoE++ support that allows for power, streaming, and camera control over a single cable – perfect for remote and live broadcast productions. The impeccable image quality is also the result of the high-performance lens, which has a 15x optical zoom and a 30x advanced zoom when shooting in Full HD. When coupled with Canon’s renowned Image Stabilizer, broadcasters can capture smooth, steady footage even from a distance. This can be ideal for shooting reality TV shows or even sports when camera operators want to discreetly zoom in on the action. The CR-N700 also features a Night Mode, allowing operators to capture footage in near darkness thanks to a removable built-in IR cut filter. Along with the HDR formats in PQ or HLG, broadcasters can capture virtually uncompromised footage in various lighting environments.

Breaking new ground for Canon’s line-up of PTZ cameras, the CR-N700 is equipped with fast, intelligent and extremely accurate focusing thanks to Canon’s proprietary Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology with advanced EOS iTR AF X. This deep learning autofocus locks onto a subject’s head, to track them as they move and even when they turn their face away. Eye Detection AF locks onto the subject’s pupil for even greater precision, while the Face Priority AF allows operators to prioritize a specific individual. This can be ideal for scenarios where it is imperative to stay locked onto the anchor throughout.

Superb Connectivity, Simple Workflows

As with Canon’s entire range of PTZ cameras, the CR-N700 supports multiple protocols to integrate with existing workflows seamlessly. Designed to fit into the diverse production ecosystems of broadcasters, the CR-N700 features SRT and NDI|HXii protocols for high-quality 4K video streams, while FreeD enables integration with virtual productions. Broadcasters can easily create multi-camera setups that meet their needs with these protocols, and with Canon’s XC protocol, it is possible to integrate the CR-N700 alongside other Canon Cinema EOS cameras such as the EOS C500 Mark II, EOS C300 Mark III, or professional camcorders including the XF605iii for a truly versatile setup. It’s even possible to match other Canon cameras’ look with Canon Log 3 and Wide Dynamic Range picture settings.

The flexible connectivity options include 12G-SDI and 3G-SDI, HDMI or IP, which allow the seamless transmission of 4K60P, for high-quality, consistent broadcasts. The CR-N700 also includes professional dual XLR audio inputs, Time code, and GEN-LOCK, for different production needs.

Enhanced control

Canon’s latest PTZ camera offers the same intuitive control as other models in the line. The advanced drive mechanism enables movements as slow and precise as 0.1° per second, meaning operators can capture cinematic shots. Compatible with both Canon’s RC-IP100 controller and Remote Camera Control Application, as well as selected third-party controllers, this further simplifies integration with existing production setups. With the CR-N700’s crop function, broadcasters can take two separate feeds from a single PTZ camera. They can select up to two regions of interest within the 4K frame and output them as a separate feeds in HD resolutions. This feature is perfect for productions with limited PTZ cameras on site.

Canon CR-N700 Key Features:
  • 1.0-inch Type CMOS sensor with DIGIC DV7 Processor achieves 4K60P 4:2:2 10-bit
  • 15x Optical Zoom (30x Advanced Zoom)
  • Dual Pixel AF with iTR AF X
  • Multiple protocols including NDI|HX, SRT, FreeD, RTMP(S), RTP, RTSP, Standard communication protocol & Canon XC Protocol
  • Enhanced connectivity with 12G-SDI, 3G-SDI, and HDMI output

Canon CR-N500 and CR-N300 PTZ Camera Firmware Update

The new firmware update for the Canon CR-N500 and CR-N300 PTZ cameras adds SRT and FreeD protocols. SRT protocol is a widely used video transmission protocol for live broadcasts that provides both low latency and error correction for smooth video over public internet connections. FreeD protocol is also a widely used protocol for transmitting camera positioning information, allowing the camera to be used in virtual applications such as virtual studio systems. Both protocols are supported by the CR-N700, and are now available on the CR-N300 and CR-N500 with firmware version 1.2.0 that is currently available for download.

Pricing and Availability

The Canon CR-N700 PTZ is scheduled to be available in December 2022 for an estimated retail price of $9,699.00.iv
