Canon Launches Six New Printers for Small Offices and Home Offices

Canon MAXIFY GX5020 : Canon Launches Six New Printers for Small Offices and Home Offices to Help Increase Productivity and Efficiency
Canon Launches Six New Printers for Small Offices and Home Offices to Help Increase Productivity and Efficiency

Continues Expansion of Company’s Business Inkjet and Laser Printer Portfolio for Hybrid Work Environments

MELVILLE, NY, April 26, 2022 – With hybrid working environments now the new norm for many companies, remote employees need every tool available to help keep them productive at home, while businesses also need intuitive equipment for when staff does come to the office. To help bridge the gap between home and office, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is pleased to introduce six new printers designed to enhance productivity for hybrid workers and small businesses. These models include new features to help meet the latest market needs for convenience, workflow efficiency, and security.

"Canon is proud to deliver solutions designed to meet new customer needs through the continued expansion of the MAXIFY and imageCLASS printer lines," says Isao "Sammy" Kobayashi, senior vice president and general manager of Canon U.S.A., Inc. "These new printers are designed to improve efficiency for small and home offices, while being versatile, eco-friendly, and time-saving tools."

The new MAXIFY GX5020 printer is an extension of the Canon MegaTank Printer lineup utilizing a high-volume continuous ink supply system, which can significantly reduce ink costs by utilizing high-volume ink bottles. This technology also allows users to focus on their work and not get distracted by frequently replacing ink cartridges; and when bottles do need refilling, it is an easy-to-fill, "no mess" process. The MAXIFY GX5020 printer can hold up to 350 sheets of paper. Additional features include:
  • Low Total Cost of Ownership & Increased Productivity –Thanks to low running costs of roughly two cents, coupled with high-volume ink bottles, it can produce approximately 14,000 sheets in color and approximately 6,000 sheets in black ink*.
  • Small Footprint – Don’t let the size of the MAXIFY GX5020 printer fool you. While sufficiently compact to fit neatly in limited space, such as a retail store counter or medical reception desk, it delivers high productivity and efficiency.
  • Print Quality & Media Versatility – The MAXIFY GX5020 printer delivers professional print quality via a four-color pigment-based ink system -- sharp, crisp prints that are less likely to smudge. Plus, it offers the versatility to print a range of media from labels to banner papers, glossy media, envelopes and more.

The Canon MAXIFY GX5020 printer is also compatible with the new online version of PosterArtist, a poster creation program designed for all levels of users to create professional-looking posters, banners and signage, with a unique technology allows it to express four different textured looks in gold or silver to enhance the output. This application, that works across many supported compatible models of Canon devices including the imagePROGRAF, PIXMA, imageRUNNER ADVANCE, imageCLASS, imagePRESS and MAXIFY series, offers prepopulated templates in various categories including education, business, health, travel, hospitality, and many others that the user can customize to fit their needs.

Along with the launch of the new MAXIFY GX5020 printer, Canon U.S.A., Inc. is proud to announce the addition of three new models to its imageCLASS-branded black-and-white laser all-in-one portfolio:
  • imageCLASS MF453dw – Three-in-one (print, scan, copy) at 40 pages per minute (ppm)**
  • imageCLASS MF452dw – Four-in-one (print, scan, copy, fax) at 34 ppm**
  • imageCLASS MF451dw – Three-in-one (print, scan, copy) at 34 ppm**

Canon imageCLASS MF451dw Printer
With their high-speed, crisp prints, user-friendly interface and Wi-Fi printing capabilities, these new models will benefit small and home office workers. These printers utilize Canon’s Application Library device platform, which provides the ability for frequently used applications and convenient functions to be registered as quick buttons on the home screen for user convenience. It takes only five seconds for the first page to print on all of these three new imageCLASS models.

The new models build upon the platform capabilities of Canon’s imageCLASS predecessors with features such as:
  • Cloud Connect (Scan and Print) ***: Cloud-based printing and scanning directly from the printer’s 5-inch color touch screen. Users can print documents directly from Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive accounts, or scan images and documents directly to these services.
  • Simple Wi-Fi Network Setup Process: Connecting to a Wi-Fi network is much easier than in the past.
  • One Pass Scan: Scan both sides of your document in a single pass for increased scanning speed and to help keep documents in order.

The free Canon PRINT Business application for compatible Apple and Android mobile devices offers convenient and quick printing and scanning on the go for the imageCLASS MF450 printer models.

"Canon’s MAXIFY GX and imageCLASS devices offer a great value for small and home office environments and increase the value of the company’s already impressive lineup for the SOHO buyer to consider," says Keith Kmetz, program vice president, imaging, printing & document solutions, IDC.

Lastly, Canon is adding the imageCLASS MF3010 and MF3010VP ("Value Pack") to its lineup of black-and-white laser printers for home office environments. These models can print up to 19 ppm**, with the first page printed in 8 seconds, and a capacity of 150 sheets. The MF3010VP printer comes with an additional toner cartridge, and both models come with a long USB cable to connect to a PC or Mac. The imageCLASS MF3010 and MF3010VP printers can be perfect for those looking for a low-cost printer with the functionality to get the job done.

Canon Announces New Software That Expands Functionality of 4K PTZ Cameras

Webcam Driver delivers benefits for online meetings and classes

MELVILLE, NY, April 12, 2022 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, announced today the launch of Webcam Driver, a new free-of-charge software for Windows™ that allows three models of Canon 4K PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras to be used as webcams.

Canon’s new Webcam Driver software is compatible with the CR-N500, CR-N300, and CR-X300 4K PTZ cameras, and allows them to be used as webcams. By simply connecting the cameras via IP to a Windows PC with the Webcam Driver installed, the cameras can be operated as webcams.

There has been a rapid increase in demand for video content with the widespread adoption of smartphones and other mobile devices and, as a result, a significant amount of live and pre-recorded video content is being created and distributed to meet this demand. In addition, remote alternatives to in-person events have increased, leading to widespread adoption of online content distribution.

With the wide variety of uses made possible by this software, users of the CR-N500, CR-N300, and CR-X300 4K PTZ cameras can adapt to new communication styles in the “new normal” and beyond by utilizing video streaming for such events as online meetings, classes and worship services.

Additionally, Canon is announcing the Mac OS supported Search Tool software. This software was previously only available for Windows systems. The Search Tool software is used during PTZ setup and configuration. When the software is utilized it will search the network for existing Canon IP supported PTZ cameras and quickly provide information about the camera such as IP address, model name and serial number – making it easy for the installer to set up.

Canon will showcase its latest digital imaging solutions and products at the NAB Show 2022 (Booth #C4432) in Las Vegas, April 24th-27th. For more information about Canon’s presence at the show and the Webcam Driver, please visit usa.canon.com.

Canon’s Webcam Driver will be provided free-of-charge starting in early June 2022.

Canon publishes guide to assist in managing and protecting important information for printers and multifunction devices

MELVILLE, NY, April 11, 2022 – To assist companies in taking appropriate steps in managing and protecting important information on printers and multifunction devices, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, has announced that Canon Inc. has published a white paper that covers cybersecurity guidelines for organizations and their systems that manage important information. Canon multifunctional printer covered by the whitepaper support each control within both National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards and provides specific guidance for how to configure the devices in support of the NIST controls.

The white paper, created by Canon Inc. and verified by Trellix (former McAfee Enterprise), can serve as a guide to organizations’ security administrators who are responsible for the configuration and maintenance of Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX devices.1 It covers cybersecurity guidelines for NIST SP 800-171, which is required for organizations that conduct business with government bodies (such as the United States Department of Defense and the Japanese Ministry of Defense). The white paper also includes information on NIST SP 800-172, which defines Advanced Persistent Threat countermeasuresto help companies take appropriate steps so that they can protect important information.

Among the topics the white paper addresses are access control, which details how to verify and control connection to – and use of – external systems while limiting the use or portable storage devices on external systems. Awareness and training, which emphasizes an organization’s responsibility to provide security training on insider threats and reporting, as well as audit and accountability components, are examples of important steps the white paper details that can be taken to help a company bolster their own security measures.

Details that relate device functions and settings to specific cybersecurity controls are also part of the white paper, emphasizing the importance of actively and assertively detecting, tracking and responding to threats via analyzing audit logs and utilizing threat intelligence to search for indicators of compromise.

The white paper was supported by Trellix in Musarubra, Japan, as the cybersecurity company reviewed the document’s descriptions and ensured its accuracy regarding the description on how to fulfill minimum security requirements for implementation and operation of information-technology equipment.

The guidance also extends to color printers, such as the imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX series as well as the imagePRESS C170 / C165 models and the imagePRESS Lite C170/C165, as well as imageRUNNER ADVANCE DX models that print black and white. A list of printers and multifunction devices in support of NIST SP 800-171 and 172 target models can be found here.

Canon RF 70-200mm F4 L IS USM Lens Professional Reviews

Canon RF 70-200mm F4 L IS USM Lens Professional Reviews
Canon RF 70-200mm F4 L IS IS USM Lens

The RF 70-200mm F4 L IS USM is a telephoto zoom lens delivering impressive image quality along with superb mobility as our shortest and lightest 70-200mm f/4 lens to date. Designed for the EOS R System, this lens takes advantage of the large diameter mount and short back focus distance of the RF mount to maintain high image quality while being more compact and portable so you’ll be even more inclined to take it with you on your travels. Results are stunning thanks to 4 UD lenses which help correct chromatic aberration and keep colors vivid, reduced ghosting provided by Air-Sphere Coating (ASC), and Optical Image Stabilization plus coordinated Optical Image Stabilizer and In-Body Image Stabilizer for amazingly clear, crisp images at slow shutter speeds and smooth video footage. There are also dual Nano USMs contributing to a short minimum focusing distance and high-speed autofocus for still shooting and near-silent, smooth autofocus during movie shooting. These features and more, combined with the confidence to shoot in almost any condition with dust- and weather resistant seals and fluorine coating, make the RF70-200mm F4 L IS USM lens a solid performer for any situation. Canon RF 85mm F1.2 L USM Lens

With its fixed 85mm focal length and wide f/1.2 maximum aperture, the RF 85mm F1.2 L USM lens is ideal for photographing portraits, weddings, fashion and more, and great for low-light situations and producing beautiful, soft backgrounds. It gives you fast autofocus speed, and works great with the Eye Detection AF feature found in the EOS R and EOS RP cameras to provide impressive focus on a subject’s eye.

All this and more, including Blue Spectrum Refractive Optics (BR) to help reduce chromatic aberration and Air Sphere Coating to help minimize flaring and ghosting, combine to give you a lens you’ll want among your favorites. (Source: Canon USA)
