Canon Celebrates Its 10th Year in Supporting the Arbor Day Foundation and Its Reforestation Program

500,000+ Trees Planted with the Company’s Support

MELVILLE, NY, April 22, 2019 – Sustainability is the future, which is why Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, finds it a privilege to announce and celebrate that the Company’s enterprise division has now lent a decade of support to the Arbor Day Foundation’s reforestation program. Since 2009, the company’s enterprise division helped contribute to the planting of more than 500,000 trees in the U.S., with this year’s efforts counting toward the Arbor Day Foundation’s Time for Trees initiative, under which the Arbor Day Foundation seeks to plant 100 million trees worldwide by 2022.

“We understand the vital importance of replenishing and maintaining our forests and are committed through our philosophy of Kyosei to promoting environmental responsibility to our employees, partners, and customers,” says Shinichi Yoshida, executive vice president and general manager, Canon U.S.A. Inc. “It’s an honor to continue into our 10th year of supporting the Arbor Day Foundation, which we believe can help drive positive environmental impact in 2019 and beyond.”

The Arbor Day Foundation implements reforestation initiatives across the country to rebuild forests that are in desperate need of regrowth. Through this program, Canon contributes to the planting of one tree for every eligible imageRUNNER ADVANCE solution sold between April 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019, up to a maximum of 50,000 trees. These solutions can help users work conscientiously and allow administrators to enable settings that can help users save energy and paper.

This year, active replanting efforts are taking place all over the nation. Canon’s aid for 2019 is planned to help support reforestation efforts for the Superior National Forest (MN), habitat restoration for rare species in the Upper Altamaha Watershed (GA), and restoration of the longleaf pine ecosystem in the Big Thicket National Preserve (TX).

“Canon’s longstanding support has been invaluable to our forest revitalization efforts across the nation,” says Dan Lambe, president, Arbor Day Foundation. “The Foundation appreciates Canon’s continued corporate support to address one of the world’s most challenging environmental issues.”

New Varieties Of Canon Printer Paper Provide Endless Options For Individualized Creativity

Bringing DIY to the Fingertips of Consumers with New Photo Paper Options, Including Restickable and Magnetic Photo Paper

MELVILLE, N.Y., November 13, 2018 – Coco Chanel once said, “In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different” and to encourage the spirit of originality, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, announced today three new consumables for select PIXMA series printers. Restickable Photo Paper, Magnetic Photo Paper and Photo Paper Plus Glossy II 3.5 inches x 3.5 inches, provide a myriad of opportunities for users to create and decorate their personal space.

"The art of expression is a person's most valuable asset in life," said Kazuto Ogawa, president and chief operating officer, Canon U.S.A., Inc. "Therefore, we felt it was imperative to provide consumers with the opportunity to bring their own imaging creations to life, ones that feel authentically unique to their individual personalities with the new line of consumables.”

New Canon Photo Paper Options Including Restickable and Magnetic Photo Paper
Canon Magnetic Photo Paper
Ideal for decorating personal gadgets, labeling items throughout the home or adding a little decorating “zhuzh” to a classroom or college dorm, Restickable Photo Paper is that extra detail that can stick and re-stick. Available in 4 inches x 6 inches, the restickable photo paper is compatible with Canon’s inkjet printers released from June 2013, including the new PIXMA TS9521C, PIXMA TS9520, PIXMA TR4520, PIXMA TS9220 and PIXMA TS6220 Printers, allowing users to print their own photos, graphics or text to fit their restickable needs.

The force is strong with Magnetic Photo Paper. Available in 4 inches x 6 inches size, users can stick their creative prints onto any magnetic surface throughout the home, in the office or even a school locker. Compatible with Canon inkjet printer models manufactured from June 2013 through today, magnetic photo paper provides users the ability to step away from the traditional picture frame and create imaginative ways to display their memories.

The Photo Paper Plus Glossy II makes it hip to be square and perfectly mimics your social media pages, bringing them to life. The square photo paper is 3.5 inches x 3.5 inches – eliminating the need to cut down traditional photo paper to fit square spaces – making it ideal to decorate throughout the home, attach to notebooks and even to your personal gadgets – which is #nifty. The Photo Paper Plus Glossy paper is compatible with the Canon PIXMA TS8220, TS6220, TS9520 and TS9521C Printers.

The new consumables are currently available for purchase at an estimated retail price of $5.99 for the Restickable Photo Paper, $7.49 for the Magnetic Photo Paper and $7.99 for the Photo Paper Plus Glossy II*. Where Next for Canon? Interview about the new EOS R System

Interview with Canon Europe's Mike Burnhill
Interview with Canon Europe's Mike Burnhill

From the post on EOS Magazine:
"In an exclusive interview with EOS magazine for the April-June 2019 issue, Michael Burnhill, European Technical Support Manager at Canon Europe, told us what the new EOS R system means for the future of Canon EOS cameras and hints at the exciting optics made possible by the new RF lens mount."

Read Interview Here>>

Questions Asked to Mike Burnhill by Angela August, Editor of EOS Magazine

Where is Canon heading with the EOS R system?

Having said that, the touch-sensitive multifunction bar on the EOS R is a significant departure from the familiar Canon layout. What has the feedback been?

EF lenses have eight contacts on the lens mount, while RF lenses have 12. What sort of additional features does this offer?

There are currently four RF lenses, with a further six recently announced, but let’s not forget that the EOS R-series cameras are compatible with Canon’s range of over 160 EF and EF-S lenses. Are there any differences in terms of performance when using EF and EF-S lenses on EOS R cameras?

Many of your competitors have introduced in-body image stabilisation (IBIS). Does Canon intend to introduce this technology?

You mentioned that Canon wants to address the movie capabilities of its EOS cameras, but there has been criticism that the EOS RP is lacking some fairly standard movie features.

Will Canon be introducing more DSLR cameras?

What is the future for the M-series, which has been a big seller in Japan, but has not done so well in Europe or the USA?

The six proposed lenses have no prices or availability. Can you give us more details?

Can you tell us more about focus bracketing? Why did you decide to introduce it into the EOS RP?

What other camera features are available on the R range that you couldn't incorporate on a DSLR?

You have talked about how the speed of information passing from camera to lens is critical, so presumably the disparity in performance between Canon lenses and third-party lenses has increased with the R-series?

What do you think is the most significant aspect of the new design?

Do you see a full-frame camera coming in at a price below the RP?

Customers Ask and Canon Delivers: New Professional Print & Layout Solution Now Available for Commercial, In-house and Professional Photographers

Software Helps Simplify Workflow, Layout, and Color Management for imagePROGRAF PRO Series Printers

MELVILLE, NY, January 17, 2019 – Streamlining the printing process for commercial, professional, as well as prosumer photographers alike, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the launch of the Professional Print & Layout (PPL) software for the imagePROGRAF PRO large format series of inkjet printers. The PPL software simplifies functions essential for photo printing, with features such as customizable layout settings, preview, and color management.

“Listening to the needs of our customers, we launched the Professional Print & Layout solution to bring an intuitive workflow that combines the professional capabilities of our PRO Series printers with the easy-to-use software capabilities for layout and color settings to the market,” said Shinichi Yoshida, executive vice president and general manager, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “We are excited to launch a software that can help professionals create a highly effective workflow link between their images and the finished printed products.”

User-Friendly Experience
PPL can be accessed as a plug-in from such software programs as Canon Digital Photo Professional, Adobe®Photoshop®, Adobe® Lightroom or as a stand-alone program. The intuitive interface allows for quick and easy navigation of printer, layout, and color management settings to help improve productivity. The easy, drag-and-drop method allows users to input images directly into template layouts, providing photographers with more freedom to easily create and visualize final print jobs.

Enhancement of Layout Function
Create and save custom template designs, such as one ideal for wedding packages, to easily use previously reliable printing and color settings. Minimize media waste with the nesting capability that lays out images in predetermined templates meant to help reduce white space and, in turn, potentially result in cost savings.

“Canon’s Professional Print & Layout software gives you amazing control for print quality with a host of options for layout, color and tonal excellence that you can store and retrieve quickly and print with confidence,” said Eddie Tapp, Explorer of Light - Canon U.S.A., M.Photog., MEI, Cr., API, CPP. “With this software the creative process doesn’t stop with the click of the camera, PPL can help add a new dimension to your work as well as your bottom line.”

Availability
The Professional Print & Layout software is compatible with the imagePROGRAF PRO Series printers and is available as a free download. For additional information on Canon’s large-format portfolio, visit www.usa.canon.com

Canon Earns 2019 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year—Sustained Excellence Award

MELVILLE, NY, April 9, 2019 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is proud to announce it has received the 2019 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year—Sustained Excellence Award for continued leadership and significant partnerships with ENERGY STAR. Canon’s accomplishments will be recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on April 11, 2019.

The highest honor among ENERGY STAR Awards is the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year—Sustained Excellence Award. EPA presents the Sustained Excellence Award to partners that have already received ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year recognition for a minimum of two consecutive years and have gone above and beyond the criteria needed to qualify for recognition. Being that this year marks the second consecutive year Canon has received the Sustained Excellence Award (2018, 2019), and the company’s fifth time overall receiving the Partner of the Year Award (2010, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019), these recognitions highlight Canon’s great environmentally conscious efforts.

“I applaud the 2019 ENERGY STAR Award Winners,” said Bill Wehrum, EPA assistant administrator for air and radiation. “Their innovation and leadership enhance America’s economic competitiveness, while reducing costly energy waste in order to improve air quality and public health to protect the environment.”

Canon has been an ENERGY STAR partner for over 20 years, offering more than 200 ENERGY STAR certified products that incorporate advanced energy-efficient technologies without compromising features or performance. Energy-efficient technologies implemented into nearly 200 of Canon’s devices are energy-saver mode, automatic duplex settings and low sleep power consumption. One of Canon’s products that exemplify the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability is the imageRUNNER ADVANCE Solutions (MFPs)ˡ, a series with the intention to help support customers’ environmental conscious mindsets through both advanced features to help reduce waste, and technology designed to provide low energy consumption to limit emissions.

“As a company taking great pride in our environmental sustainability, we value our dedication to our philosophy ofKyosei, displaying an on-going commitment to social and environmental responsibility, and our contributions to the welfare of the communities we serve through the foundations of youth, environment and community,” says Kaz Moriguchi, vice president and general manager, Canon U.S.A. Inc. “On behalf of Canon, I thank ENERGY STAR for highlighting the company’s great work; we are honored to be recognized for the fourth consecutive year for our environmental conscious programs incorporated into our company’s culture.”
