Professional photographers demand comprehensive assistance from camera makers, including state-of-the-art technology, top-class performance, customized service and a strong support network.

I shot this Asian Games with three EOS R3s. The performance of the EOS R3 is impressive. With its advanced subject recognition, high speed continuous shooting, and high speed shutter, you will not miss the most important moments in any sports shooting. And after shooting, I was able to post my photos immediately thanks to their excellent communication functions such as Wi-Fi connection and FTP transfer.

New Canon RF 10-20mm F4L IS STM Ultra-Wide Lens

See more, do more: Canon launches the widest auto focus zoom lens ever made for a full frame camera

Canon RF 10-20mm F4L IS STM Ultra-Wide Lens

London, UK, 11 October 2023 – Canon Europe today announces the launch of the RF 10-20mm F4L IS STM, a new addition to the L-series range for photo and video professionals. Offering limitless possibilities by enabling an extreme ultra-wide shot, the RF 10-20mm F4L IS STM provides unrivalled image quality, all in a compact size.

The ultimate ultra-wide shot

The lens builds on the capabilities of the existing wide-angle RF range as the widest AF zoom ever made for a full frame camera1, with an angle of view of up to 130°. Featuring a zoom that ranges from 20mm wide-angle to an exceptional and unique ultra-wide 10mm focal length, users can now achieve a shooting area more than twice that of a 16mm focal length.

Fitting more in the frame allows for fresh perspectives when it comes to capturing dramatic panoramas. Photographers can add extra foreground interest, capture tight interiors and architecture, and add depth to landscapes, and filmmakers can be more creative with awe-inspiring establishing shots.

Every detail, just as it should be

The new lens delivers unparalleled image quality in a wide-angle lens, achieving incredible sharpness and clarity with virtually no distortion.

Engineered to the highest standard, the RF 10-20mm F4L IS STM incorporates the latest Peripheral Control Image Stabilisation (IS) technology which ensures crystal-clear, shake-free images even in challenging shooting conditions or without tripod access. The new IS ensures shake free images from centre to the edge of the frame and offers five stops of optical stabilisation or six stops in combination with an in body stabilised camera. Its advanced rectilinear optical design means you can expect a crisp and accurate outcome – so straight lines remain straight, even at the edges of the frame, all thanks to an advanced optical formula. A constant f/4 maximum aperture provides consistent exposures at every zoom setting, and state-of-the-art optical coatings minimise ghosting and flare which can be common with ultra-wide shots.

Ultra-compact, ultra-portable

The advanced tech comes at no expense to ease-of-use. The RF mount allows outstanding image quality from a compact design by enabling hugely increased communication speed and bandwidth between camera and lens.

Weighing just 570g, the RF 10-20mm F4L IS STM deserves a permanent place in your kitbag. It’s less than half the weight (610g lighter) and 2cm smaller in width and length than the EF 11-24mm f/4L USM – in fact, the new lens paired with an EOS R8 weighs less than the older EF lens alone. All this despite offering a wider angle of view and addition of IS technology – so shooting with limited space not only becomes easier, but your bag will be lighter too.

Built for professionals

Due to its superior image quality, greater capacity for wide-angle stills and video, and lightweight design, the RF 10-20mm F4L IS STM is an essential upgrade for photographers and videographers looking to push their capabilities to the next level. While it’s ideal for landscapes or architecture, the lens can also capture a different perspective on sports or documentaries.

The RF 10-20mm F4L IS STM can withstand even the most challenging weather conditions, as it is resistant to dust and moisture for professional use.

Key features and attributes include:
  • The aspherical, Super UD, and UD lens elements (including one Aspherical UD element) which help to achieve high image quality appropriate for an L lens
  • Highly durable dustproof and waterproof qualities, to withstand rigorous conditions faced by professionals
  • SWC (on 2 lens surfaces) and ASC (Air Sphere Coating) reducing ghosting caused by light sources within the image, a phenomenon often seen in wide-angle lenses
  • First L series lens to feature STM motor and full time manual focus capability, thanks to compact lightweight focus group

Canon imageFORMULA DR-S250N Desktop Scanner

LOCATION, 10th October 2023: Today, Canon Europe announces the launch of its imageFORMULA DR-S250N, a reliable, secure and productive compact desktop scanner, designed to serve busy modern workspaces. The DR-S250N facilitates quick and easy scanning and document sharing from a wide range of devices, allowing businesses to meet the needs of a more flexible workplace.

For most organisations, scanning is a crucial part of day-to-day operations. This A4 desktop scanner meets the demand for improved collaboration across multiple working locations, facilitating rapid file sharing and keeping document-heavy workflows moving.

Flexible and versatile connectivity

The imageFORMULA DR-S250N provides a user-friendly and straightforward approach to document sharing with flexible connectivity options, allowing users to connect seamlessly via Local Area Network (LAN) environments or directly through USB. Equipped with powerful web scanning functionality, it removes lengthy set-up times caused by driver or software installations, reducing workflow delays.

The device is easy to get started as users simply scan the QR code displayed on the scanner using their mobile device – this offers instant connection to the scanner’s browser-based application, CaptureOnTouch LITE Web. The imageFORMULA DR-S250N is also compatible with a variety of devices, including tablets, PCs, MacBooks and Chromebooks - bringing flexibility and convenience to those looking to access powerful scanning capabilities within an office or shared co-working environment.

The device also features a direct scanning function, enabling users to directly set-up routine scan workflows, without the need for a PC or additional scanning software. As a result, employees across the workforce can scan documents directly to email, shared folders, and collaborative platforms such as Teams or Slack with the press of a button.

Packaging up productivity and quality

The latest imageFORMULA scanner does not compromise on quality despite its high productivity, offering users market-leading image processing capabilities that deliver high-quality scanning outputs. Through Contact Image Sensors (CIS), users benefit from sharper images, less distortion, and improved text readability.

Once a user scans a document, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) can be used to create editable and searchable files, for effective collaboration and document sharing across the workforce. Compatible with a wide range of document types including legal sized documents, receipts, businesses cards, and passports, the scanner supports a broad range of office tasks.

Making document security easier

As businesses of all sizes continue to scrutinise their IT security, IT managers are tasked with gaining a better understanding of their own organisation’s perimeters and where there are potential weak spots. The imageFORMULA DR-S250N device bolsters security at the network edge by making sure scanned documents do not remain in the scanner, minimising risks of leaked confidential data, regardless of how many individuals share the device.

In addition, IT teams can easily manage users, set restrictions, and customise user preference scanning settings through the active directory or Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) address - ensuring strict document security.

Designed with sustainability in mind

The imageFORMULA DR-S250N has been designed with sustainability in mind – renewable solar energy is used during production and its packaging can be reused and is biodegradable. Recycled plastics are also used to build the device as well as durable components, which are designed to last longer. Additionally, its low weight of 3.4kg, helps to minimise the environmental impact associated with transportation.

New Canon imagePROGRAF TM series Large Format Printers

Canon Launches New imagePROGRAF TM series Multi-Use Large Format Printers for CAD Drawings and Posters

New Canon imagePROGRAF TM series Large Format Printers

London, UK, 2, October 2023 – Canon is today launching its new imagePROGRAF TM series of A0+ and A1+ printers for producers of technical and promotional large format printing applications in sectors from architecture, engineering, construction and manufacturing to retail, hospitality and education.

Canon imagePROGRAF TM-355 printer
Canon imagePROGRAF TM-355 printer

The portfolio incorporates five models – the TM-355, TM-350 and TM-340 for A0+ prints and the TM-255 and TM-240 for A1+ output – all featuring a newly formulated, vibrant magenta ink.

The range is designed to meet diverse printing needs, from CAD construction and design drawings to retail and restaurant posters and school classroom displays. The refined body design and small footprint ensures they fit within virtually any office or retail space, even when combined with the optional large format scanner.

The imagePROGRAF TM series features a newly developed L-COA PRO II image processing engine, which enables quick start-up. The TM-355/350 offers top printing speeds of up to 3.2 pages per minute (PPM), about 28% faster than previous models,1 ensuring greater productivity for time-critical prints.

Greater vibrancy even on uncoated paper

The ink enhancements for the imagePROGRAF TM series deliver greater vibrancy even on uncoated paper. The newly designed image processing table and optimised magenta ink ensure excellent red colour development for vivid reproduction and sharper contrasts. This equates to more clarity when highlighting corrections and revisions in CAD drawings, or displaying critical technical annotations.

By utilising all-colour pigment ink which is also water resistant, the printers can produce eye-catching posters and point-of-sale items that attract attention and do not fade easily over a long period of time. Customers printing posters can produce borderless prints using the full roll width, which removes the time-consuming task of trimming the margins after printing.

Improved design and user interface

The new flat-top design makes it easier to switch paper rolls, and the printers automatically detect and display paper type2 and estimate how much paper is remaining. With colour calibration included as standard, these labour-saving features contribute to greater operational efficiency.

The large touch screen panel shows the paper width and type, as well as the remaining roll paper and ink levels at a glance. In addition, it can be tilted to adjust the angle for easy viewing according to the user's point of view and position.

The design also helps to reduce operating noise across the series up to about 39 decibels (dB) in certain models, which is approximately 1/3 lower3 than their predecessors, making it suitable for any working environment.

Jennifer Kolloczek, EMEA Planning, Marketing & Innovation Senior Director, Production Print at Canon Europe says: “Setting a new bar for compact multi-use large format printers, the new imagePROGRAF TM series creates incredibly vibrant prints, with a smaller footprint and less noise. Whatever your company size, however restricted your space, you can now conveniently produce a wide variety of print applications which would traditionally have to be outsourced, from CAD drawings to posters and retail POS materials, improving productivity and efficiency without compromising quality.”

Progress on sustainability

Canon is committed to its efforts to reduce waste and environmental impact throughout all of its operations. The imagePROGRAF TM series has achieved a ‘Gold’ product rating under the U.S. EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) Registry, the highest level of registration in the field of imaging equipment products.4 Expanded polystyrene foam has also been eliminated from the products’ packing materials in favour of full cardboard packaging.

Integrated software makes it easy to create well-designed posters and flyers

The TM series printers are supplied with Direct Print Plus software which means multiple files in different formats can be ordered to print in a batch with a simple drag-and-drop operation, helping users to print all types of drawing efficiently. For promotional applications, customers can use Canon’s PosterArtist web application to create original poster and flyer designs by choosing from a wide range of free templates to suit their needs.

Users can create vivid posters easily with the new imagePROGRAF TM series
