New Canon MAXIFY GX MegaTank Printers

Canon MAXIFY GX MegaTank Printers
Canon MAXIFY GX MegaTank Printer
Canon Announces New MAXIFY GX MegaTank Series Printers for Small Offices and Home Offices to Help Increase Productivity and Efficiency

MELVILLE, NY, April 21, 2021– How we work looks a lot different now than ever before as 80% of company leaders plan to allow employees to work remotely at least part of the time after the pandemic1. For small businesses and larger corporations, whether working full time in the office, a hybrid model or just completely working from home, the proper tools, equipment and overall infrastructure are required to be productive and efficient. In the spirit of working smarter, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced two new MAXIFY GX MegaTank Series printers: the Canon MAXIFY GX7020 and Canon MAXIFY GX6020 printers.

The MAXIFY series of MegaTank printers utilize a high-volume continuous ink supply system which may significantly reduce ink costs for color printing, producing approximately 14,000 color prints and approximately 6,000 black ink prints before needing to be refilled*. The four-colored ink set is pigment based, which is well suited for business use as the printing does not smudge easily when using a highlighter since the ink is highly resistant to friction. The continuous ink supply system contributes to a low total cost of ownership and running costs of roughly two cents per color print, further adding to the efficiency of these machines. Along with a small overall footprint that easily fits in almost any office environment, these printers are backed by a three-year limited warranty, giving consumers the peace of mind that they will be ready to work when needed most. Overall, the MAXIFY GX Megatank Series printers are built for business.

For a home office or small business, such as a local retailer, accounting group, or real estate agency, both the Canon MAXIFY GX7020 and Canon MAXIFY GX6020 printers are designed with ease, convenience, and productivity in mind. Inclusive of a three-year limited warranty, business owners can rest easier knowing that they are covered should unforeseen hiccups present themselves. In addition, having a workhorse printer with the versatility to print in color and black and white, the ability to print on plain paper along with a variety of media, such as envelopes and labels, and including a paper tray with large capacity is essential to help improve the overall workflow of daily activities.

Both printers are an investment - after the initial cost the new MAXIFY GX MegaTank Series printers can help return on that initial investment thanks to features such as the refillable ink bottles. A smaller footprint and improved efficiency while helping to increase productivity position the new MAXIFY GX MegaTank Series printers as ideal for the ever-changing and evolving business needs.

The MAXIFY GX7020is a four-in-one (Print, Copy, Scan, Fax) printer capable of holding up to 600 sheets and auto-duplex scanning/copying. The MAXIFY GX6020 is a three-in-one (Print, Copy, Scan) printer that is compact in size, has a paper capacity of up to 350 sheets, includes two extra black ink bottles, and is capable of large-volume printing at a high-speed. Additional features of the Canon MAXIFY GX7020 and Canon MAXIFY GX6020 printers include:
  • Low Total Cost of Ownership & Increased Productivity – After the initial investment, the decision to add these printers to your business will have maximum productivity impact and provide a lowered cost of ownership. Thanks to low running costs of roughly two cents, Economy Mode setting, Auto-duplex printing and high-volume ink bottles that produce approximately 14,000 sheets in color* and approximately 6,000 sheets in black ink* - the overall cost of ownership when compared to other printers in their class is lower.
  • Smaller Footprint – Don’t let the size of the MAXIFY GX MegaTank Series printers fool you. While both are packed with features that keep business operations top-of-mind, productivity will continue as these models can be neatly placed in limited space, such as on the counter of a retail store next to a point-of-sale terminal or hospital reception desk.
  • Business Quality & Media Versatility – Professional, business quality prints are a result of ownership thanks to the the four-color pigment-based ink system. Sharp, crisp prints that are less likely to smudge are optimal for a variety of business usage cases. Also, the ability to print from labels to banner papers – glossy media and envelopes, helps the end-user to not miss a beat and could help to expand their business for future opportunities.

Pricing and Availability
The Canon MAXIFY GX7020 and Canon MAXIFY GX6020 are anticipated to be available in April for an estimated retail price of $899.00 and $799.00, respectively2.

RF 400mm f/2.8 L IS USM, RF 600mm f/4 L IS USM and RF 100mm f/2.8 L MACRO IS USM

Auckland, New Zealand - 14 April 2021: Today, alongside the development announcement of the EOS R3 – a high-speed, high-responsive professional mirrorless camera designed to give sports and news photographers the advantage of capturing fast action – Canon New Zealand announces three new RF lenses.

The new RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM and RF 600mm f/4L IS USM super telephoto lenses join Canon’s extensive range of optically excellent RF lenses built for the EOS R System – a system designed to exceed the needs of the photographers of today and tomorrow. Ideal for professional wildlife and sports photographers, these super telephoto lenses are the first in the RF line-up to feature a double power drive method, enabling EOS R System cameras to focus faster and helping professionals keep track of action – even when shooting at 30fps.

Also launching today is the RF 100mm f/2.8L MACRO IS USM – the world’s first interchangeable AF macro lens for full frame mirrorless cameras with 1.4x magnificationi. This lens is a kitbag essential for all photographers, from enthusiasts to professionals, looking to advance their creative skills with the powerful benefits EOS R System cameras and lenses bring.

The RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM and RF 600mm f/4L IS USM super telephoto lenses support a double power drive method for faster AF with R-System bodies, capturing millisecond moments.

RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM and RF 600mm f/4L IS USM – super telephoto lenses with incredible focusing speeds

The RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM and RF 600mm f/4L IS USM are based, respectively, on the ground-breaking EF 400mm f/2.8L IS III USM and EF 600mm f/4L III USM – two much-loved super telephoto lenses for professional sports and wildlife photographers. While the optics and mechanics of the lenses are largely the same as the EF versions, the capabilities of these super telephoto lenses are next level, as they take full advantage of Canon’s revolutionary EOS R System and RF Mount. Professionals using the lenses will enjoy incredible focal lengths – even more so when used with the 1.4x and 2x RF extenders – ultra-high optical performance, speedy focusing, reduced weight, and improved balance when using with a Canon EOS R System camera.

The RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM and RF 600mm f/4L IS USM boast the stand-out features of Canon’s RF lenses, such as 1/8th stop aperture control for video and enhanced optical IS – a feature enabled by the RF Mount communication system, providing 5.5 stopsii. In addition, the lenses support a double power drive method for faster AF with current and future R-System interchangeable lens cameras. As a result, professionals can shoot far away, fast moving action which would be over in a matter of milliseconds. Both lenses also feature three manual-focus speeds, for precise control and full-time manual focus, allowing adjustments to be made without switching modes. What’s more, professionals can store two focus pre-sets for quick recall, saving time when they need to react fast and enabling them to pull focus when shooting video. The focus ring can also be used as a control ring with some EOS R series bodies.

Thanks to the use of Fluorite and Super UD glass plus ASC and Super Spectra coatings, even at its maximum f/2.8 aperture, the RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM offers exceptional sharpness right across the frame. The RF 600mm f/4L IS USM shares this same benefit of minimised distortion and flare – even at the lens’ f/4 max aperture – ensuring professional images are of the highest quality edge-to-edge. Operating confidently in low-light conditions, the RF 600mm f/4L IS USM, thanks to its large f/4 aperture, and the RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM with its f/2.8 aperture, both support 5.5-stops of image stabilisation – reducing camera shake, even in dimly lit conditions, making them perfect for professionals to achieve the winning shot, whatever the conditions.

Built to inspire confidence, both lenses are lightweight and can withstand the rigors of professional use, standing up to the test with their L-series build quality and heat-reflecting white finish.

When paired with full frame mirrorless cameras, the RF 100mm f/2.8L MACRO IS USM is the World’s first interchangeable AF macro lens with incredible 1.4x magnification (1.4:1) capability.

RF 100mm f/2.8L MACRO IS USM – a picture perfect macro and portrait lens
The RF 100mm f/2.8L MACRO IS USM is a truly versatile lens, and a kitbag ‘must have’ for professionals, semi-professionals and enthusiasts alike shooting macro, still life, and portrait photography. Its exceptional magnification ratio 1.4:1 – made possible by the lens’ floating system and short back focusing – allows photographers to capture exceptional close-up detail. The flattering focal length of 100mm at f/2.8 aperture is perfect for those looking to take striking portraiture.

In addition to its incredible magnification, a standout feature, and an improvement from its EF version – the EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM – is a new variable and adjustable Spherical Aberration Control ring. Photographers can vary the look of the background and foreground bokeh, while allowing them to create a soft-focus effect on the subject. It’s f/2.8 maximum aperture with 9-blades gives shallow depth of field and beautiful bokeh. Boasting the professional grade image quality seen throughout Canon’s RF lens line-up, the RF 100mm f/2.8L MACRO IS USM’s advanced lens design ensures sharp, high-contrast images edge-to-edge.

The RF 100mm f/2.8L MACRO IS USM also features up to 5-stops Optical Image Stabilization and 8-stops Combined IS (using CIPA standards) when used with the EOS R5 and EOS R6, significantly reducing camera shake while hand-held. Dual Nano USM AF provides smooth, accurate and high-speed auto focus that is virtually silent, while focus breathing is also suppressed – making it ideal for shooting movies and in post-production when Focus Stacking.

Key Features:
  • RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM and RF 600mm f/4L IS USM
  • Large maximum aperture f/4 and f/2.8 respectively for the lens’ focal length, delivering excellent low light performance and image quality

Developing News: Canon Announces That The Powerful Professional Full-Frame EOS R3 Mirrorless Camera Is On Its Way

The Company Is Also Welcoming Three New RF Lenses: The Canon RF100mm F2.8 L Macro IS USM, RF400mm F2.8 L IS USM and RF600mm F4L IS USM

MELVILLE, NY, April 14, 2021– Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced that its parent company, Canon Inc., is developing a new, high-performance professional camera — the Canon EOS R3*. When it arrives, the EOS R3 will be an outstanding complement to the three new RF lenses the company also introduced today — The Canon RF100mm F2.8 L Macro IS USM, RF400mm F2.8 L IS USM and RF600mm F4 L IS USM.

“The development of the Canon EOS R3 and the launch of the new RF lenses are the latest testament to the company’s commitment to professional still and video image and content creators,” said Tatsuro “Tony” Kano, executive vice president and general manager of Canon U.S.A.’s Imaging Technologies & Communications Group. “When the camera becomes available, it will pair well with each of the new RF lenses announced today. Canon is excited to share this news today, and we look forward to seeing the images captured with the new RF lenses and upcoming EOS R3.”

Under Development - The Canon EOS R3
The Canon EOS R3 will join the current lineup of EOS R full-frame mirrorless series cameras. This camera will usher in a new category to the EOS R system, positioned squarely between the EOS R5 and EOS-1D X Mark III cameras. The camera will put great emphasis on superb AF performance and speed, with fast-moving subjects. It is being designed to meet the reliability and durability demands of professionals, even when working in challenging conditions.

At the heart of the EOS R3 camera’s performance will be an EOS camera first, a Canon-developed, full-frame stacked CMOS sensor with a back-illuminated design, providing substantially faster read-out speeds during still-imaging recording. This completely new sensor is designed to produce less “rolling shutter” distortion during Electronic Shutter operation and offer continuous Electronic Shutter still-image shooting at speeds up to 30 fps — with full Dual Pixel CMOS AF and auto exposure1.

The AF system will leverage technology and performance from the well-received EOS R5 and EOS R6 cameras, using Deep Learning technology to further enhance eye and body detection for even better performance during portrait and action-type shooting. In addition, the EOS R3’s subject detection AF will offer new recognizable subjects for its AF system, bolstering its focusing capabilities during challenging shooting conditions.

The Electronic Viewfinder of the EOS R3 will offer photographers the ability to select the initial area for AF tracking by simply looking directly at the viewfinder location where they want to begin AF. With Eye Control AF2 and Servo AF activated, the camera will focus on and track moving subjects at that location in the frame. When Face Detect + Tracking is active, the camera will continue to follow moving subjects around the entire active AF area.

The camera body will be entirely new and accentuates the camera’s high-performance design. It’s a one-piece design, integrating the body with a vertical grip section. The weather and dust-resistance will be equivalent to that of EOS-1D class cameras — an essential consideration for nature, wildlife, sports and photojournalism content creators working in extreme conditions. In addition, news photojournalists will be excited to add the Mobile File Transmitter application for iOS and Android devices that will be available.

Full details of all the EOS R3’s features and specifications will be provided at the time of its formal announcement*. To follow along for more news on the Canon EOS R3 camera, please visit: www.usa.canon.com/eosr3.

From Up-Close To Far Away, New Canon RF Lenses Have You Covered
The Canon RF100mm F2.8 L Macro IS USM lens is not only Canon’s first RF lens designed specifically for macro photography, but also the world’s first3 medium telephoto macro lens with a maximum magnification of 1.4x. The new lens, designed for both advanced photo enthusiasts and professionals, takes macro photography expression to the next level with the introduction of a spherical aberration (SA) control ring. The SA control ring allows users to change the character and appearance of the bokeh and obtain a softer focus effect with a simple turning of the ring to the desired result. Additional features of the Canon RF100mm F2.8L Macro IS USM include:
  • Optical Image Stabilizer with up to five stops of Shake Correction4.
  • When combined with a camera featuring In-Body Image Stabilizer, up to eight stops of shake correction5 is possible with coordinated operation of Optical and In-Body Image Stabilizer.
  • Hybrid IS helps to compensate for angular and shift camera shake during macro shooting.
  • High-speed, smooth and quiet auto focus with dual nano USM.
  • Customizable control ring that allows photographers to adjust exposure compensation, shutter speed, aperture or ISO.
  • Rugged Canon L-series dust and water-resistant design.

The Canon RF400mm F2.8L IS USM and Canon RF600mm F4L IS USM are both designed to be optically identical to their EF counterparts. The RF400mm and RF600mm weigh in at 6.37 and 6.81 pounds with a minimum focusing distance of 8.2 and 13.8 feet, respectively. Both lenses share many of the same critical features that help professional high-end super-telephoto lenses stand out from the crowd. Those features include:
  • Ideal for a wide variety of shooting situations, including sports, aviation, trains, automotive, and wildlife, such as birding.
  • Optical Image Stabilization with up to 5.5 stops6 of shake correction. Including three IS Operation Modes — still subjects, panning, and irregular movement.

  • Lenses include fluorite and super UD lens elements arranged in such a way to help correct chromatic aberration and make the models more compact. Like the latest Canon EF400mm f/2.8L IS III USM and EF600mm f/4L IS III USM lenses, released in the fall of 2018, weight on these RF-series super-telephotos has been significantly reduced vs. previous-generation Canon super tele designs.
  • Compatible with Canon RF 1.4x and 2x extenders, and feature a customizable electronic focus ring, with manual focus capability during SERVO AF.
  • A nine-blade circular aperture provides users beautiful bokeh and ideally blurred backgrounds when the aperture is stopped down.
  • For added convenience when on a shoot, two focus presets are available. Users can instantly return to one of two memorized focus distances.
  • Rugged Canon L-series dust and water-resistant design with vibration and shock resistance. The front element has been dressed with a fluorine coating for easy cleaning.
  • Infrared reflective pigments with high reflectance and titanium oxide lens barrel coating with silica provide excellent UV weather resistance and heat reduction.

Canon RF Lenses Pricing and Availability
The Canon RF100mm F2.8 L Macro IS USM, Canon RF400mm F2.8 L IS USM and Canon RF600mm F4L IS USM are scheduled to be available in July 2021 for an estimated retail price of $1,399.00, $11,999.00 and $12,999.00, respectively*. For more information, please visit usa.canon.com.

Canon commits to the next generation of creative storytellers with its Student Development Programme

London, United Kingdom – 1ˢᵗ April 2021 – Canon Europe is excited to announce the 2021 Canon Student Development Programme, now in its fifth consecutive year. Running from 1ˢᵗ – 4ᵗʰ September 2021, Canon will offer 250 students from across Europe, Middle East and Africa the exclusive opportunity to participate in its bespoke educational programme designed to enhance students’ visual storytelling skills and advance their careers.
  • World-class advice, portfolio reviews and one-on-one mentorship from esteemed industry professionals
  • Unrivalled access to inspirational lectures, talks and speakers, all taking place digitally for the second year in a row
The importance of photography and supporting its rising stars has become more apparent than ever this year, as it has the power to shape the world's perceptions, tell stories and make history. With applications opening on 1st April 2021, the second digital edition of the Canon Student Development Programme will offer successful participants the chance to have their portfolio reviewed by some of the most influential names in the world of photography to help them on their journey to becoming young professionals.

Each student will be partnered with a mentor over the summer from whom they will receive one-on-one preparation time, ahead of having their curated portfolios reviewed within a group review session in September. This year, expert coaching will be provided by some of the world’s leading photo professionals, including Canon Ambassadors such as visual artist Laura El-Tantawy and two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Muhammed Muheisen.

Alongside the portfolio reviews the Programme will also include a series of inspirational lectures, taking place digitally from world-renowned experts including photographers, picture editors and publishers, who will share practical advice as well as their thoughts and perspectives over trends and developments in the industry.

Since 2017, over 800 students have attended the Programme, resulting in real success stories of talents that have gone on to establish incredible careers. Alumni such as Ksenia Kuleshova (2017), who has since gone on to become a successful photojournalist, works regularly for publications including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal; while Michele Spatari (2018) is an award-winning documentary and news photographer for AFP who has captured some of the most significant events in recent history, including the Covid-19 pandemic. Since attending the Programme, both photographers have also gone on to become Canon Ambassadors.

Ksenia Kuleshova, Programme Alumni and Canon Ambassador said: "The Canon Student Development Programme is a great way for aspiring photographers to gain invaluable experience, learning from and mixing with professionals in the industry. During my time on the Programme, I learned not only how to better present and promote my work but was also able to use it to reflect on my experience and motivate myself when the week ended.”

Susie Donaldson, ITCG European Marketing Director for Canon EMEA said: “ As we approach our fifth year of the Canon Student Development Programme, we’re excited to welcome the next generation of creative storytellers onboard. Part of Future Focus, Canon’s dedicated programme for turning young talent into professionals, we look forward to championing future photographers by giving them the tools, knowledge and opportunity to advance their careers and build on their skills.”
