Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RTNew External Flash Unit Features Wireless Flash Shooting and Compact Size

MELVILLE, N.Y., July 8, 2015 - Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the new Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT external flash unit featuring - for the first time in the Canon 430EX series - radio-controlled wireless flash shooting capabilities1 designed to make creative light control more manageable and versatile for photographers of all levels. This third generation Speedlite is a perfect primary flash unit for amateur and advanced amateur photographers looking to create beautiful portraits with Canon digital cameras such as the EOS Rebel T6i, as well as professional photographers looking for a small and lightweight secondary flash.

"Canon is proud to offer outstanding photographic accessories that help enhance a photographer's overall creative experience when shooting with our EOS DSLR cameras," said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO, Canon U.S.A., Inc. "The new Speedlite 430EX III-RT provides photographers with a very responsive flash unit having new wireless capabilities that enable users to create more professional lighting effects than if they were to rely on their camera's pop-up flash alone."

Featuring enhanced functionality and operability over its predecessor (the Canon Speedlite 430EX II), the new Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT features wireless flash shooting via optical or radio transmission (similar to the Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT but slave function only), now with shorter recycling time and quicker firing. This multi-functional flash unit makes more advanced flash shooting easy for any photographer with its intuitive, user-friendly operation, abundant bounce and swivel shooting functions and advanced features including a maximum Guide Number of 43/141 at ISO 100 in meters/feet, auto zooming from 24-105mm, Hi-Speed Sync and Second-curtain Sync. In addition, the Speedlite 430EX III-RT has been reduced in size and weight compared to its predecessor.

Featuring another first for the 430EX series of flash units, the Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT also includes an SCF-E2 Color Filter which helps balance color temperature when shooting in incandescent lighting, an SBA-E2 Bounce Adapter that helps soften light while helping suppress shadows, a built-in Catchlight panel, illuminated dot-matrix LCD, new control dial, light distribution options, multi-camera sync shooting, and remote shutter release. Enhanced functions include broader bounce angle range and flash exposure compensation via the new control dial. Also included are two cases - one for the flash and one for the filter and

adapter.

New Compact and Lightweight EF-S Macro Lens Opens Up a World of Photographic Possibilities and Helps Capture Close Subjects with Incredible Detail

MELVILLE, N.Y., April 6, 2017 – Compact and lightweight, the new Canon EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro IS STM, announced today by Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is the widest-angle Macro offering in Canon’s popular EF-S lens series. The new lens is designed to help both entry-level and advanced amateur DSLR photographers discover the incredible possibilities of macro photography. Capable of capturing close-up subjects with incredible detail, Canon’s new EF-S macro lens is also the first in the series to feature built-in Macro Lites that allow users to control lighting with ease.

“Macro lenses are an amazing way to explore the worlds that exist all around us, and the new Canon EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro IS STM lens is the ideal starting point for amateur photographers eager to capture incredible, up-close details on the go,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “Whether capturing a delectable dessert or the subtleties of a backyard flower, users will be challenged to find new colors and shapes that turn everyday moments into art.”

The new Canon EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro IS STM captures stunning images and is a terrific companion lens for entry-level users eager to expand beyond their existing Canon EOS DSLR kit lens. Capable of shooting as close as 30mm from the end of the lens to the subject, aspiring photographers can get up close to a fruit or flower for an entirely new perspective, while capturing high-quality images with beautiful background blur. Additional technologies built into the new Canon EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro IS STM lens include:
Popular 35mm focal length (56mm equivalent) and wide f/2.8 aperture

Canon unveils PowerShot G7 X Mark II Software Development Kit; enabling developers to build low cost, compact photo solutions

London, UK, 19 April 2017 – Canon Europe, world leader in imaging solutions, today announces the release of a Software Development Kit (SDK) for the PowerShot G7 X Mark II, a powerful compact camera with outstanding image quality¹. Following feedback from Canon’s community of software developers, the SDK allows users to control major functions of the PowerShot G7 X Mark II, such as zoom and exposure; perfect for the likes of ID photograph booths, 3D scanning or medical research.

The SDK is available free of charge to members of the Canon Digital Imaging Developer Programme. Through its online hub, the programme provides development tools for third party software companies wishing to integrate Canon's products into their own solutions.

The SDK is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X and is available now across EMEA under a non-technical/non-warranty policy. For more information, please visit Canon’s Digital Imaging Developer Program: http://www.didp.canon-europa.com/

Future Firmware Plan for the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV

From Canon USA:  Future Firmware Plan for the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV
Future Firmware Plan for the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV
We would like to inform you that release of firmware to enhance functions of the EOS 5D Mark IV, which was originally scheduled for November 29 at the same timing as the firmware updates for six other models has been postponed until late February 2018 for reasons related to firmware preparation:

  • Canon EOS-1D X Mark II Firmware Ver.1.1.4
  • Canon EOS-1D X Firmware Ver.2.1.0
  • Canon EOS 5D Mark III Firmware Ver.1.3.5
  • Canon EOS 5DS Firmware Ver.1.1.2
  • Canon EOS 5DS R Firmware Ver.1.1.2
  • Canon EOS 6D Firmware Ver. 1.1.8

We would like to offer our sincere apologies to users of this product who have been inconvenienced.

In the firmware to enhance functions of the EOS 5D Mark IV, we are planning to incorporate the following enhancements:
  • Support will be added for chromatic aberration correction, peripheral illumination correction, distortion correction, and Digital Lens Optimizer when using Digital Photo Professional to process RAW images captured with the following TS-E lenses: TS-E 17mm f/4L, TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II, TS-E 50mm f/2.8L MACRO, TS-E 90mm f/2.8L MACRO, or TS-E 135mm f/4L MACRO.
  • Support will be added to fix a phenomenon* in which standard exposure may not be obtained, or an irregular exposure may result, when Silent LV (Live View) shooting with the following TS-E lenses: TS-E 50mm f/2.8L MACRO, TS-E 90mm f/2.8L MACRO, or TS-E 135mm f/4L MACRO.
  • Support for Exif 2.31 will be added.

*This phenomenon occurs when tilt or shift is applied on a TS-E lens (TS-E 50mm f/2.8L MACRO, TS-E 90mm f/2.8L MACRO, or TS-E 135mm f/4L MACRO) during LV shooting when Silent LV shooting is set (set to Mode 1 or Mode 2 on the menu). For this reason, until the firmware update, when performing viewfinder shooting or LV shooting, please shoot with the Silent LV shooting set to [Disable].
